Glamour Magick Beauty’s DIY Clay Mask Recipe

Welcome back to the Glamour Magick Beauty Blog! Today I’ll be providing a step-by-step guide on how to make one of my favorite DIY face masks. This mask is great if you have an active breakout and wan’t to brighten your skin as you recover. I won’t hold you long, let’s get into the recipe below…

To get started you’ll need a non-metal container and a plastic spoon. Using metal will throw off the Ph balance of the Aztec clay and will lessen its effects. I recommend making this in small batches to ensure freshness. Pictured here is cosmetic grade Kaolin clay. This stuff is awesome for brightening but it’s too fine/soft to use alone so it goes well with thicker clays. You can’t go wrong with 2-3 scoops.

I’ve added 3 scoops of Aztec clay.

Looking clunky as all get out but I added 3 spoonfuls of Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar to my clay mix. ACV also aids in brightening and balancing the skin. At this point add scolding hot water. I would add literally just a splash. The water needs to be hot as it will help with blending and creating the smooth texture you’re looking for.

Once you’ve got your mask nice and smooth, feel free to apply it immediately. However, this mask should be refrigerated as the ACV can cause it to mold if left in room temperature for too long. For active breakouts, use this as a spot treatment as needed. If you’re applying it all over your face, then I wouldn’t use it more than twice a week as the Aztec clay is drying and ACV can mildly burn you (I’ve been too aggressive before and was burnt up!).The magic in this mask is the Aztec clay’s magnetic abilities. It literally pulls all the impurities out of your face so your skin should be pulsating as it’s drying and will be red once you wash it off. Please tone and moisturize generously after. See my Vitamin E post to see some of my favorite products you can use to replenish your skin post wash off.

That’s it y’all. Super easy and affordable to make and hands down one of the most effective masks I’ve used. Drop down in the comments and let me know how and if this works for you. Tune into the Glamour Magick Beauty Podcast until next time…
