Welcome back to Glamour Magick Beauty. As Libra season brings themes of relationships, balance and justice into our lives, Mercury going retrograde in this friendly Air sign comes with a side of challenges. For those of you going through breakups, here’s some advice on how to heal and move onward and upward.
Feel: So you and your boo broke up. It sucks and it’s sad unless the situation was so toxic that you and others congratulate you. If you’re actually hurt please give yourself time to sulk. Be hurt. Feel. The way to get over someone is not to get under someone else. Please take time to binge on ice cream, cry and rest. You’re going to go through a range of emotions but embrace them all. Mercury rules writing and communication so journaling and shadow work is essential right now.
Two to Tango: A big part of coming out of your funk and moving on is going to be reflection. What part did you play in the demise of your relationship? Did you tolerate disrespect such as lying and cheating or physical, mental/emotional, financial or verbal abuse? Did you go through the motions of the on-again, off-again relationship? Accept a “situationship” or a polyamorous arrangement that you really didn’t want? Regardless of where you and they went wrong, accepting less than you deserve or desire in anyway is a sign of a lack of self love.
On the contrary, maybe you could have been just as toxic as your former significant other. Get down to the nitty gritty of the part you played in every argument or uncomfortable moment in your relationship. If you accept no responsibility you’ll never grow, thus leaving you open to repeating the cycle that you’re currently in.
The Point of No Return: Let’s not forget we are in the spirit of Mercury retrograde meaning don’t be surprised if your ex tries to come back or maybe you want to go back. I fully understand how difficult it is to not check their social media, think about them or talk about them. I also understand how difficult it is to not answer texts or phone calls. Be gentle with yourself as it’s perfectly ok to still care about this person and their whereabouts—after all we are only human.
However, remember that you and them broke up for a reason so severing all forms of communication is the key to truly moving on. Do not look back because if you’re reading this then you’re not going that way.
It’s You Time: Happiness is the best revenge. The best way to move on from a relationship is to put all your energy back into you. In addition to reflecting and sulking, remember to treat yourself and spend time with others who love you. Go out and enjoy life as much as you can while you still can. Self care such as exercise, rest, and anything related to bettering your health and wellness (massages, mani and pedis, hair salon/barber visits) is essential to pouring back into yourself.
